By using the Logitech Unifying Software and my keyboard, I was able to pair a mouse up in minutes and write this review. Recently, I had two mice and only one receiver that didn't match. Logitech Unifying Software is a lifesaver if you have Logitech receivers, yet hardware that won't pair wirelessly. Shame on you Logitech.Logitech Unifying Software allows you to pair any Logitech Unifying receiver with compatible mice, keyboards, and more. What a horrible customer experience this all has been. So your only options are disable File Vault (not a real option for security), or use the Dongles, which I decided to do, but I wanted only one.

The mouse and keyboard will not work at login because they require Bluetooth Low Energy drivers and apparently they don't get loaded until after login with the File Vault. I would have just stuck with Bluetooth on the devices, but apparently there is an issue with older Intel based Macs that have File Vault turned on. Logitech should do the right thing and stop selling the unified receiver MX Keys and replace it with the Bolt receiver Business version since their latest MX Master 3S mouse supports Bolt. (Disclaimer: I have a business selling stuff on eBay -). However, they don't check if you are an actual business and you get approved instantly.

Amazon sells the Business version of MX Keys, but you have to sign up for a free Business account to buy it - lame. Bolt apparently has much lower latency and more security as well, so it is definitely a better technology. I ended up returning the MX Keys and buying the MX Keys Business which does support Bolt, so I now have them both on one Bolt dongle. Why in the bloody hell can't the mouse have backward compatibility with the unifying receiver? I have always been happy w/ Logitech products, but this is a major stain on that record.

I honestly don't think the mouse works as well running on bluetooth, but I can't bring myself to actually use two separate receivers.

As pointed out here, the fact that both of these peripherals are actually marketed as a pair is absurd/insulting at best, and bordering on fraudulent at worst. I frankly assumed this had to be some kind of mistake/misunderstanding, and reached out to Logitech directly only to have it confirmed that both will NOT work with the same receiver, and I currently have the mouse running on bluetooth w/ the keyboard using the unifying receiver. I'd just like to express appreciation for this thread, as I recently purchased the Master 3S mouse, and already had the MX keys, and spent an hour trying to get both to work on the same receiver, when I searched and came upon this discussion. Sooooo disappointed in this after using Logitech gears for over 15 years. Try to read that out loud, then think about this, then print it out and hand it over to the head of products in your company. These gears are not the cheapest ones and I don't mind paying this amount of money for good mouse and good keyboard, but the absurd of this setup is above level 9999+. So in case I have a laptop with only 2 USBs (which is common case right now), I will have no free USB port left.Īnd also, to add additional irony on top of this, you have also MX Keys Mini in portfolio, which actually CAN connect to Bolt receiver? But the "regular" size keyboard CANNOT. So in order to use both items from MX Master series, I need to plug in 2 separate USB dongles. So just to conclude u/Logitech_ST - you have created MX Series, which contains MX Keys and MX Master 3S and you even recommend bundle of these 2 items together as perfect set (broadly, I would say), BUT keyboard is using different receiver than a mouse from the same product series. I have asked Logitech support, if that's true. I bought MX Keys and MX Master 3S just few days ago.
